Our Story

True beginnings of a unique, high-performance cloth.

I designed The ODDCLOTH in 2009, and while at that time my creation had no name, it most certainly had a very specific function.

When I create couture clothing I have to keep washing my hands to protect the
expensive fabrics, which means the sink can be wet all day. In the effort to deter
metal corrosion and calcium build-up, I dry the sink after each use. However, in that pursuit I have ruined many a terrycloth hand towel, wasted a lot of paper towels, and wrestled, unsuccessfully, with the inadequate shape of classic square towels. And there’s the rub: square is not the right shape, cotton is not the right fabric, and paper towels work poorly, are expensive, and VERY wasteful.

My only option: Design a perfectly shaped microfiber cloth, specifically suited to getting in the tight space between the faucet and the wall, the deep crevices of the hot and cold handles and around the stopper and spout. Happily, my first try was perfection. Could I have given it a better name? I don’t think so.

The ODDCLOTH is unique. It doesn’t matter if it gets stained, or a little raggedy-edged; it isn’t for display. The ODDCLOTH is the choice to conquer the cracks and crevices. Odd…it just works!

The Original Odd Cloth

Here is the birthplace of The ODDCLOTH. As you can see,
my sink sits very close to the wall, so it is difficult to get at
the residual water in the skinny ravine. Water is the
nemesis. Wet faucets and sink tops result in corroded
metal, surface calcium build-up, and ugly, compromised
caulking. One day I reached my tipping point. I headed to
my design table, grabbed my giant scissors and created
The ODDCLOTH.
